First Day of School

This year Kaylee is in first grade and Dylan started preschool.  Both of them are really liking school so far.  Kaylee loves seeing her friends, playing at recess, and showing me all her papers when she gets home.  Dylan is making new friends and likes play time and story time the best!  When I ask him how school went, he doesn't have a lot to say, but he is liking it a lot.

Waiting for the bus.  Even though Dylan wasn't starting school yet, he was excited to wait for the big yellow bus to come down our road!

While the new elementary is being built, the preschool is being held at one of the local churches in town.  Here is Dylan outside his school.

What could be more fun than playing in the laundry baskets?

Family Pictures

It's been awhile since I've posted some pictures, so here are a few family pictures from the last couple of months.  On Kaylee's birthday we went to Mason City and took pictures of the kids in the park.  In August, we took a family picture with my parents and my sister and her family.  Ryan also had his six month pictures taken in August, so I've posted some of those as well.

I also have many more pictures to share from both Kaylee's and Dylan's first days of school, and just random shots that I will post as soon as I can.

Kaylee's 6th Birthday

This year instead of having a family birthday party, Kaylee had a party with her friends.  Six girls came over to our house for the afternoon.  They played in the pool, had races on the slip 'n slide, smashed the pinata and got lots of candy, and ate cake and ice cream.  It was so much fun watching all of them playing together!

On the day of Kaylee's birthday we went miniature golfing and played in a park with a huge wooden playground.  The kids had a blast!  Later that evening we went to another park and had pizza with the grandparents.  We had a great time celebrating Kaylee's birthday!

This year Kaylee wanted a cake made out of cupcakes.  She was really excited when she saw it!

Kaylee was super excited about this new game for the Wii!!!

When Kaylee was really little she didn't like to have her picture taken at the studio, so we started taking them ourselves.  And since her birthday is during the summer it's the perfect chance to get some outdoor shots.  This is just one of the many pictures we took that day for her six year pictures!

This was the first time Kaylee had been miniature golfing and she said it was one of her favorite parts of the day!

Instead of cake Kaylee wanted dilly bars from Dairy Queen.  So we put a candle in it, sang happy birthday to her, and then she still got to blow out a candle on her birthday!

Alison & Josh's Wedding

On Saturday, Grant's cousin Alison got married in Des Moines.  All of the little Oskvig cousins were bell ringers for the wedding.  So there were 13 cousins ages 3 months to 9 years in the wedding.  Each of the kids walked down the aisle ringing their own bell while some of the older kids carried the younger ones.  They all did a great job and looked so cute too!  We had such a fun weekend at the wedding and reception and just getting to spend some time with our family!

(Funny story about the dresses.  I've looked back at pictures from when I was little and said that I would never wear matching outfits with my kids like my mom used to do with us.  But for the wedding we had already bought Kaylee's dress and then went shopping to find something for me.  Kaylee saw this dress right when we walked into the store and said, "Try that one on Mommy and then we can match!"  She was so excited, so I tried it on and since I liked the dress I went ahead and bought it.  Before the wedding she told quite a few people that her and Mommy had matching dresses!)

4th of July

We had such a great time celebrating the 4th of July in Williams.  Kaylee was on the Little Princess float (and later the t-ball float too!), Dylan got to ride in a race car, Grant walked through the parade throwing candy, and Ryan and I got to watch everyone.  After the parade we went to the park for all of the activities.  The kids both ran in the races, rode the train, did frisbee art, visited the duck pond and got way too many prizes, went to the ring toss and won some pop, and they also did the cake walk.  That night we came back to the park for the little princess program that Kaylee was in.  They interviewed each one of the girls and then a band played after that.  Then we finished off the night with some great fireworks in town.  It was a great day and all of us had a lot of fun!!!

Dylan was so excited to be in this car.  Before the parade he was being a little impatient and wanting things to start.  He kept yelling, "Go, Daddy, go!!!"

Kaylee and Dylan each got to run in the races in the park.

Our nephew Brent (far left in the red shirt) also ran at the same time Dylan did.  You can see him along with a few other relatives in the picture.

Having fun on the train.

Riding the train again.  I don't know how many times Dylan rode this throughout the day!

Ryan slept through all of the fireworks!!!  You would have thought it would have been too loud for him, but then again he's been around Dylan enough that he's used to a lot of noise!
